Matt Pietrek is an author, educator consultant, rum historian, and publisher. His 850-page book, Modern Caribbean Rum, won the 2022 Tales of the Cocktail Spirited Award for Best New Book. Matt has been the Community Envoy for the West Indies Rum and Spirits Producers’ Association, aka WIRSPA, since 2019. Along with his spouse, Carrie, he owns Wonk Press, a small publisher creating premium books for passionate audiences. In addition to his RumWonk and CocktailWonk sites, he also writes for publications like PUNCH, Bourbon Plus, and Drinks International.
