Clay Risen

An editor and reporter for the New York Times, Clay Risen writes about whiskey and the spirits industry. He’s also a prolific author; writing acclaimed books on American history as well as various types of whiskey. His most recent book is “The Impossible Collection of Whiskey.” His other books include “Single Malt: A Guide to the Whiskeys of Scotland” and the best-selling “American Whiskey, Bourbon and Rye: A Guide to the Nation’s Favorite Spirit,” which has sold more than 100,000 copies over two editions. Clay is a popular speaker and media interview on spirits subjects and is a tasting judge for several competitions. His spirits writing has appeared in numerous publications including Forbes, The Atlantic, Fortune, and the Washington Post.
